House Policy & Rules

The Zurich Development Center (the “Center”) is owned and operated by Zurich Insurance Company Ltd. The following House Policy & Rules (the “Rules”) have been established by the Center to provide our guests with an exceptionally friendly, safe and clean experience. Any person entering the Center agrees to abide by the terms and conditions of these Rules. We reserve the right to enforce the Rules with appropriate measures and may remove a person not abiding by these Rules as well as reasonable standards and policies according to local law without any refund.

Admission

Access to the center is restricted for guests (16 years and older) who are staying with us and/or who are attending a conference that is taking place with us. Pets are not allowed in the center.

Alcohol

We do not serve alcohol prior to 6 p.m. Beer and wine are offered free of charge to our guests in our lounges. With regards to the amount of alcohol consumption, we appeal to the personal responsibility of our guests. If consumption appears to be excessive, we will take any appropriate measures and expel the respective guests if necessary.

Badges

Please return room badges to the Reception at check-out. A fee of CHF 50.- will be charged for each unreturned badge.

Bicycles

Bicycles must be stored in the bicycle stand in front of House A. The Center does not assume any liability for theft and/or damage of bicycles. Bicycles provided by the Center are used by guests at their own risk.

Breakfast

For our registered overnight guests, the fee for our buffet breakfast is included in the room fee. Subject to availability and the payment of a fee, visitors may join a guest for breakfast (please refer to the reception desk for additional information).

Check in time: 2.00 p.m.

Damage to property of the Center

Any accidental damages should be reported at the earliest convenience in order to minimize damage and associated costs. Any damage to the Center property, whether accidental or willful, is within the responsibility of the registered guest for each room. With regards to groups, we reserve the right to charge the lead guest for any damage caused by any member of the booking party.

Fire and other emergencies safety policy

In the event of a fire or other emergency, please immediately notify our Front Desk. Emergency evacuation plans are displayed on guestroom doors and on meeting room doors. Additional fire safety information is available in the guest information documentation. Please review this important information at your earliest convenience.

The Center is fully equipped with smoke detectors. We reserve the right to take action against any guest attempting to tamper with any detection and fire extinguisher equipment throughout the Center. We reserve the right to charge guests for any damage incurred to the property of the Center.

Guest room linen changing & cleanliness

Your comfort is very important to us. For guests staying multiples nights, bed linen is changed after 4 nights. Used towels are exchanged if requested. Should you bring any infestation into your room or onto our premises, we may charge you for any related costs and expenses (including immediate or urgent response requirements and loss of room revenue) we deem necessary.

Illness and epidemics

We reserve the right to refuse accommodation to guests arriving with potentially contagious diseases. In cases sickness occurs during the stay, we ask you to notify the reception staff. During epidemics, we will employ precautionary measures according to our judgment or as required by local authorities.

Lost & found policy

The Center assumes no liability for lost, misplaced, stolen, or damaged valuables or belongings. In case you notice having left behind something of value to you, please call us immediately and we will try to assist you in locating your lost item.

Any property left behind by guests will be stored for a period of 14 days. While we will make our best efforts to reunite lost property with their owners, we accept no responsibility in replacing lost items and encourage guests to ensure they have all their belongings before checking-out. We may offer to send lost items via recorded delivery at the cost of the guest (including packaging); otherwise collection can be arranged.

No in-room party

In order to protect the facility and our guests, no parties, loud disturbances and/or noise-nuisance are allowed on our premises.

Quiet hours

We ask you to maintain quietness from 10:00 p.m. to 8 a.m. Also, any devices must always be kept at a respectfully low level. Our lounge facilities and the bowling alley are closing at 2.00 a.m.

Parking

Parking is available for registered guests in our underground garage on a first come- first serve basis (parking spots cannot be reserved). All vehicles are parked at owners’ risk. The Center does not assume any kind of liability or responsibility for any vehicle, occupants, or contents while operated or parked on the premises of the Center. Vehicles remaining on the premises after departure of the guests will be towed at owner’s expense (save for written consent of the Center). Also, repair work on vehicles is not allowed within the premises of the Center.

We ask guests to vacate charging stations once the battery is charged sufficiently in order to make available charging to other guests.

Right to refuse service

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason(s) in compliance with applicable laws.

Smoke-free facility

As the Center is a smoke-free facility, smoking of any kind as well as the diffusion of smelly substances are not permitted.

No-cooking, cooking appliances, portable grill stations, combustibles or fireworks.

Guests are not allowed to prepare their own food on cooking appliances. Also, any kind of open fires, flames or cooking grills, either charcoal or gas, and fireworks are not allowed anywhere within the Center.

Visitors

Visitors are asked to notify the Reception upon their arrival. Visitors are not allowed to use guest amenities including the Health Center, bowling alley, buffet breakfast, lounges, library, Study room or any other public areas. As a registered guest, you are responsible for your visitor at all times.


These Rules shall be governed by and construed in accordance with substantive laws of Switzerland excluding any conflict of law provisions (in particular but not limited to the Swiss Federal Statute on Private International Law (IPRG)) and the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).

Any legal action, suit, or proceeding in any way arising out of or in connection with these Rules shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the city of Zurich, Switzerland.
